The Teamelite 01 is the hardtail of choice for the discerning XC rider. The lightweight 01 Premium Carbon frame with integrated cable routing has been engineered with our race-focused 29 inch Big Wheel Concept, which lends it serious capability for the steepest climbs as well as the most technical descents. Alongside its race-tuned build kit, this high performance bike also has an ace up its sleeve: Micro Travel Technology. The 20 millimeters of MMT damping technology engineered into the rear of this bike means hardtails are now no longer synonymous with teeth-rattling harshness on descents. The Teamelite is truly a hardtail like none other.

MICRO TRAVEL TECHNOLOGY

BMC’s Micro Travel Technology (MTT) is the evolution of XC hardtails, informed by years of experience and engineering in our Impec Lab.

IS THE EVOLUTION OF SEVERAL GENERATIONS OF ADVANCED CROSS-COUNTRY WEAPONRY. THE PROGRESSIVE COMPOSITE ENGINEERS OF THE IMPEC LAB SPENT TWO YEARS DEVELOPING AND PERFECTING THE FUNCTION AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SYSTEM.

Simply adding compliance to the rear end of the bike was not sufficient – doing so without loss of drivetrain efficiency, torsional rigidity, or steering responsiveness was near rocket-science. The end results of two years of research and development to create MTT, are the icing on the cake; virtually no weight penalty and incredibly low maintenance.

Micro-Travel Technology function is the result of the engineered performance of the chainstays and seatstays through complex carbon layups and the dual-guide, integrated XCell damper.

THE BMC TEAMELITE 01 - A RACING EVOLUTION

The Impec Lab has teamed up with the BMC Mountainbike Racing Team to create the BMC Teamelite 01, the world’s most technically-advanced hardtail mountainbike. The high-performance discipline of cross-country racing has become, quite literally, a race to the top. Grueling, all-out sprints to the finish are supported with bikes whose maximum efficiency and minimum weight ethos pay no heed to compliance – until now. The BMC Teamelite 01 is the culmination of an evolution of race bike performance. MORE THAN BIG WHEELS

It takes a lot more than just adding bigger wheels to fully capture the benefits of the 29er. And for that reason, the transition to bigger wheels has, for many brands, proven incredibly difficult. But our progressive Big Wheel Concept created a totally new way of thinking, from axle to axle, and has set us apart from the rest. More control, more comfort, more confidence and a whole lot more speed, the 29er and BWC are the past, present and future of big wheels.

Big Wheel Concept is much more involved than a wheel diameter; it’s a philosophy, a mindset, a strategic approach to geometry and handling characteristics to make 29er bikes ride intuitively. When the transition to 29” wheels started catching fire, our engineers realized quickly that the entire bike, from handlebar to rear triangle, had to be redesigned and re-evaluated. The end result is a multi-faceted approach: position the rider in an ideal space for traction and control, create the perfect cockpit for confidence, and rethink geometry until the bike is fast, fearless and nimble.

GREATER AGILITY 

Perfect chainstay length, maximum bottom bracket drop and a short stem all create a bike that works with the rider, not against them.

INCREASED STABILITY

With a larger contact patch, 29” wheels are known for stability and predictability – we take things further with a purposeful geometry and cockpit.

AGILITY

Chainstay length is a critical component to how well the bike will maneuver into and out of turns; and maximum bottom bracket drop creates stability through tight corners – each should be well thought out for every discipline of riding experience.

STABILITY

A slacker-than-usual head tube angle, combined with a long top tube and offset forks creates an awesome long front-center measurement for confidence and speed.

AGILITY

A short stem is critical for creating a nimble and quick front end, preventing riders from using their energy to turn the bike through tight terrain.

STABILITY

With all of the geometry tweaks, there was only one thing left to compliment the front-end handling of our big wheel bikes - a nice, wide handlebar. To give riders ideal leverage at the grip, each of our MTB platforms come with a wider-than-normal handlebar.
